Hotter?

These may be from a vintage Patons pattern book and sure, they aren’t quite modern to today’s standards but why oh why is one model feeding another model ice cream? I don’t get the point of that at all – does it make the hot pants hot?

  1. Maybe because the one girl is shorter and wearing a bib. 😛

  2. Well it certainly doesn’t make them cool
    🙂

  3. I wouldn’t advise wearing this if you have 40″ hips. Those were the days when whatever the fashion, there’d be a knitted/crocheted version.

  4. i didn’t realize that 2002 was the new 70’s…

  5. She obviously did not dress herself, and cannot feed herself either.

  6. wow,childhood nightmares returning…….. (:0

  7. More to the point – what is that super creepy thing behind the girls on the left?! Have to say, though, there’s something cheeky cute about these gals!

  8. Wow!

Not quite sure who the target market is for that…
I sure hope they didn’t sell a lot of them

  9. those pants were surposed to be ” soo hot you had to eat ice cream to cool youselve off” . i guess. or it was a failed attempt to make the picure look more sexy. no seriously it reminds me of the time that my mother decided that mini skirts are good on a child since they take less fabric to make.

  10. I don’t think anything will top the woman giving birth.

Anything I see after that…won’t get me as much as that one.

  11. this one is just scary disturbing on soooooooooooooooo many levels!

  12. Wow! There are just so many amazing things going on in this! The bright colors! The scary sculpture thing behind them! The sharing of ice cream when there is clearly another ice cream on the table! The fantastic 70’s style! The high socks! There is just too much! Thanks for the laugh!

  13. @Tiffany, I’m pretty sure 2002 is the pamphlet number, not the year.

I doubt you could make models get shag haircuts in 2002 – this is from the 1970s.

That said, wow! What demographic were they going for?

On second thought, I don’t wan to know.

  14. Well, DUH, they’re LESBIAN hot pants! Lesbians in the 1970s always wore crocheted shorts or bib overalls and fed each other ice cream! Not many people know that, I guess.

  15. Am I the only one somewhat disturbed by the “toe?”

  16. The feeding is to increase the infantilizing quality of the little-girl outfit, which is, as we know, what all crocheters aspire to. Or maybe they hoped men would mistake it for some new kind of porn.

  17. Well… I would comment about the 70’s if I could remember them… or maybe I am blocking them out because of all the gals leaping about with ice cream in their camel-toe shorts.
