What Not to Crochet

Not Fugly, Just : Not a Good Idea

Posted by: SB&C on: January 23, 2008

Sounds cute : Let’s make a poncho for the little blond Darling!

But – what’s that?

You can’t find a pattern you like?

Oh! Thats fine! Just use a tea cosy and  make it a bit bigger.

Not too much though…

armless

Red and Pink Simply Soft  yarn: $6

Hook : $3

Mopping up the tears when the Labrador knocks flat the child in the poncho who can’t put her arms out to save herself and her nose : Priceless.

Haha, this is hilarious! Quite the garment. ;)

It’s a good thing I wasn’t drinking a hot beverage when I read this because I would have snorted it straight out of my nose!

Whenever I see this picture, I can’t help but think “oh, the poncho for armless little girls.”

I think this would be a good idea to give to every child that comes into WalMart. It just needs to be a litttttttlle bit longer.

Fighting off a cold only makes me cough when I laugh! ARGH!

And I though ponchos were supposed to be flowy for mobility!

You really shouldn’t make fun of that poor little girl with no arms. Her mother probably crocheted too much while she was pregnant and this is what happened.

A new device for keeping unruly children in line.

That is the worst designed poncho I’ve seen.

It looks like it might have been starting off as a skirt then the designer said….oh instead of a skirt this will make a better poncho!

That poor child! Tea cosy ponchos should be outlawed! :O)

So it’s a restraining device?

made me laugh out loud!
Well, I’ll think of putting armholes then.

The arm trapping problem is why I don’t make, wear or like ponchos in the first place. But if sufficiently loose and/or lacy, an adult can usually wear them safely. Or, they need to be made so the sides are a lot higher than the front/back edges.

This one looks like one of those “2 for 1″ type patterns– it can be a skirt or a poncho– and it’s child abuse to make the kid wear it in the straight jacket mode.

Poor little sweet darling!

Yeah, that’s just cruel to the poor kid.

Those ridiculous pom-poms will just get her beaten up, and she won’t be able to free her hands to try to defend herself. I can see why the Labrador is laughing.

Where’s her arms?
Give her some arms!
Where’s her effing arms?

:P

Where can I get one for my child?

effing hilarious!! i’ve laughed myself silly while reading all of your fugly posts but this one was so over the top lol and i agree with the thank god i wasn’t drinking coffee! person. lmao

I’ve always hated this pattern.

This picture brings back many tearful memories, and great laughter because thats me without the blond hair, you just need to add the coolwhip purse that doubles as a baby bed.
This is great!

This is a face plant just waiting to happen. Or early bondage training. Either way, I give this a no vote.

Although there have been times I wish my boys couldn’t use their hands….this is still cruel!!!
